Content Description

The Civil Rights Movement in Alabama, 1954-1965 collection contains twelve VHS tapes corresponding to the lectures as well as printed transcriptions of each speech. "The Early Years of the Movement (Part I), a lecture given by Diane Nash on September 13, 2001 at UAH is missing both a video recording and a transcription. Also included in the collection is an original pamphlet for the event.

Scope and Contents This collection documents newspaper media coverage of the Scottsboro Boys Trials, the retrials circa 1936 in Alabama of nine African American teenagers originally accused of raping two White women aboard a train in northern Alabama in 1931.
